Springboro started the season with a statement win last Friday in the season opener over Mason 21-7. The visiting Panthers dominated the Comets in the first half starting on the first drive as they ate up nearly half of the first quarter clock before Senior tailback Mattias Brunicardi burst threw the line for a 20-yard touchdown. He would later score on a 9-yard run, and he finished with 178 yards and 2 TDs on 22 carries. Junior Max Miller also hit Senior Drew Balogh for a
37 yard score in the first half and the Panthers led 21-0 at the break.
Just as dominant as the Springboro offense was, the defense was a big story as they wreaked havoc on the Comets offense all night while only giving up 132 total yards with only 41 yards coming through the air. Senior Linebacker Isaiah Doerman led the team with 9 total tackles while Boro tallied 5 sacks on the night, one each by Doerman, Evan Weinberg, Max Weimer, Drew Kowalski, and Jacob Tibbits.
Henry Greenberg was perfect 3 for 3 on PATs and also averaged 36.8 yards per punt with a long of 48.
