Springboro soccer came away with a 5-2 victory over a very good Summit Country Day team Thursday night. The Panthers played a nice match with quality play from everyone. Julian Rowland started the scoring with a nice finish on a thru ball from Brady Scott 15' into the match. Midway through the half, Gus Woodrum put Springboro up by 2 goals on a great switch play from Ethan May. Summit found their first goal on a penalty call just a minute later to pull the match to within 1 goal, but a couple minutes later Grant Perry intercepted a bad back pass and tucked it away to put the Panthers up by 2 goals again at 3-1 which is where the half ended. Summit wasn't finished as they found an early goal in the second half to pull the game to within 1 once again. With 27' minutes left in the game, Rowen Arnold found Henry Faust on a nice run to put the Panthers up by 2 goals again at 4-2. Rowen Arnold topped off the scoring with a composed finish on a fantastic ball from Luke Crowley. Josh Gandee and Xavier May collected 2 and 3 saves respectively on the night. The Panthers improve to 4-1 on the season and return to play on Tuesday, September 2nd on the road vs GWOC rival Fairmont at 7:15p.
