The Springboro Lady Panthers kicked off their 2025 soccer season in style with a 3-1 home victory over the Lebanon Warriors at Wade Field.
The Panthers struck first with 26 minutes left in the first half when Macy Gill delivered a cross to a wide-open Hailey Burns, who calmly finished to put Springboro up 1-0. Lebanon responded at the 12:39 mark, leveling the score at 1-1.
But the Panthers weren’t done. With 6:20 remaining in the half, Alex Elliot connected with Morgan DeMoss, who found the back of the net to reclaim the lead. Just before halftime, with 1:25 left, Poppy Wakefield intercepted a goal kick from the Lebanon keeper and launched a quick strike past the goalie, extending the lead to 3-1.
The second half was all about defense. Bailey Cumbow, Addison Ramby, Ellie Urlich and Stella Woodrum anchored a lockdown defensive effort that kept the Warriors from mounting a comeback. In goal, senior Susan Schaff and freshman Charlotte Fry shared duties, preserving the Panthers’ lead and securing the win
Springboro will look to build on this momentum in their next home matchup against Lakota East, scheduled for Tuesday, September 19th 7:15 PM at Wade Field.
