In a gritty GWOC conference showdown, the Springboro Lady Panthers returned to their winning ways with a 2-0 victory over the Miamisburg Vikings. The match was marked by intense physical play from both sides, but Springboro’s composure and precision proved decisive.
The Panthers wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. Just 36 minutes into the first half, Poppy Wakefield delivered a sharp pass to an out wide Macy Gill, who managed around a couple of defenders to find the back of the net giving Springboro an early 1-0 lead.
The second half saw more aggressive play, but the Panthers maintained control. Wakefield once again was able to find a pass to Keira Buckholtz for the team’s second and final goal, putting them at 2-0 for the win.
Goalkeeper Susan Schaff anchored the defense with a stellar performance, recording a clean sheet and keeping the Vikings at bay throughout the match.
With this win, the Lady Panthers improve their conference standing and build momentum heading into their next challenge. They’ll travel to the greater Columbus area on Saturday, September 13th to face the Olentangy Orange Pioneers at 12:00 PM.
