The Springboro Lady Panthers emerged victorious over the Walnut Hills Eagles with a 2-1 win, becoming District Champions for the 2nd year in a row, and securing their next spot in the regional semifinals.

The match kicked off with high energy, and it didn’t take long for Springboro to make their mark. Less than two minutes into the first half, Poppy Wakefield put a shot toward the goal. Though a Walnut Hills defender managed to clear it, Keira Buckholtz was perfectly positioned to collect the rebound and hit it home, giving the Panthers an early 1-0 lead.

The momentum continued in Springboro’s favor. With just over 14 minutes remaining in the first half, a long ball was sent deep into Walnut Hills territory. Hailey Burns intercepted the clearance and quickly passed it back to Morgan DeMoss, who unleashed a stunning strike from 20 yards out. The ball sailed into the left side of the net, doubling Springboro’s advantage to 2-0.

The second half was a testament to the Panthers’ defensive resilience. Walnut Hills pressed, but Springboro’s back line held firm. With just 55 seconds left on the clock, a handball in the box gave the Eagles a lifeline in the form of a penalty kick, which they converted to narrow the gap to 2-1. However, time was not on their side, and the Panthers held on to clinch the win.

With this hard-fought victory, the Springboro Lady Panthers advance to the regional semifinals, where they will face the Seton Saints on Tuesday, October 28, 2026, 7:00pm at Miamisburg High School.
