The Springboro Lady Panthers opened their home schedule Thursday night with a 1-1 draw against the Loveland Tigers.

Led by team captains Baylee Cumbow and Ava Whitt, the Lady Panthers battled through a largely defensive match. Scoring opportunities were few in the first half until Loveland broke through, scoring with 12:25 remaining to take a 1-0 lead into the break.

The Panthers started the second half maintaining control of the ball and spent much of the opening 20 minutes playing in Loveland's end of the field. Both teams had corner kick opportunities that were unsuccessful at putting numbers on the board, but Springboro continued to apply pressure as the clock wound down. The equalizer came with 5:21 remaining. A corner kick from Ally Wade created a scramble in front of the goal, and Aubrey Harris finished the play to tie the match at 1-1. Springboro generated a few additional opportunities in the closing minutes, including a final push toward goal as time expired, but neither team was able to find a winner.

The Lady Panthers will travel for their first road match of the season on Tuesday (August 18th), when they face the Lakota East Thunderhawks. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. at Lakota East High School.
