The Springboro Lady Panthers showed resilience Tuesday night, battling back from a second-half deficit to earn a 2-2 draw against the Mount Notre Dame Cougars.

The first 20 minutes of the match found the teams equally skilled and possession changed sides several times. However, all shots on goal by either side were unable to find the back of the net.

Springboro broke the deadlock with 20 minutes remaining in the first half. Springboro had a corner kick taken by Ally Wade. The ball found freshman Lily Remy, who redirected it into the net to give the Lady Panthers a 1-0 advantage.

The Panthers' defense preserved the lead in the half thanks to a tremendous effort led by Baylee Cumbow and the defensive line. With about seven minutes remaining before halftime, a Mount Notre Dame forward broke free on a one-on-one opportunity toward goal. Cumbow sprinted back, caught the attacker, and cleanly stole the ball away to stop what appeared to be a sure scoring chance.

Springboro carried its 1-0 lead into halftime.

Mount Notre Dame found their equalizer 13 minutes into the second half, making the score 1-1. Then once again, with 19 minutes remaining in the half, Mount Notre Dame capitalized on a free kick near the top of the Springboro penalty area, taking the lead 2-1.

Springboro continued to battle back and found their answer. With just a little under nine minutes left in regulation, Macy Gill delivered the game's final goal. Taking a pass from Stella Woodrum past the half line, Gill dribbled the ball just outside the top of the box and buried a shot into the back of the net, leveling the score to 2-2.

The Lady Panthers will return to action on Thursday, August 27th, 2026, when they travel to face the Lebanon Lady Warriors. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
