The Springboro Lady Panthers delivered a 3-1 win over the Chaminade Julienne (CJ) Catholic Eagles at home on Monday night, capping off a memorable Senior Night celebration.
The night started with a celebration of the Panther's five seniors — Addison Ramby, Ellie Ulrich, Hailey Burns, Morgan DeMoss, and Susan Schaff — for their dedication and leadership throughout their high school career. In the spirit of honoring all Senior players, the Boro Seniors presented the CJ Seniors with flowers as each girl was called to step out on the pitch as wishes for a bright future were bestowed upon on all the Seniors.
From kickoff, the first half of the game was a back and forth defensive battle that found the score board showing a 0-0 draw at the end of the first 40 minutes.
The second half started like the first when Springboro found their first mark at 26:25. Hailey Burns hit a free kick to fellow senior Ellie Ulrich, who buried the shot from over 20 yards out to put Springboro ahead 1-0. That sparked CJ to respond in turn as they found the back of the net, putting them level with a 1-1 draw less than two minutes later.
With 11:08 remaining, a scramble near the CJ goal drew their keeper out of position. Alex Elliot capitalized on the opportunity to win the ball and connected with Keira Buckholtz, who found the back of the open net and gave Boro the lead at 2-1.
The Lady Panthers sealed the win with 8:09 left when a short corner led to a CJ foul. Ulrich stepped up taking the free kick and sent the ball toward the net. The ball then deflected off the CJ goalie’s heel and rolled in, giving Ellie her second goal of the night, securing Boro’s win with a 3-1 final score.
Next up, the Lady Panthers hit the road to face Dublin Coffman this Saturday, October 4th at Dublin Coffman High School Stadium. Kickoff is set for 2:00 PM.
