The Springboro Lady Panthers closed out the 2026 regular season Saturday afternoon with a 2-0 victory over the Lakota West Firebirds at Wade Field. The match marked the final regular-season game for the Lady Panthers at Wade Field, with Springboro scheduled to move into its new soccer facility for the 2027 season.
Just six minutes into the match, Alex Elliot worked the ball down to the end line and sent a cross into the box. Macy Gill was there to meet it, one-touching the ball into the back of the net to give the Panthers an early 1-0 lead. That proved to be the only goal of the opening 40 minutes.
The second half turned into a battle, with Lakota West pushing for the equalizer and Springboro protecting its one-goal advantage.
The Panthers' defense held firm, and with just one minute remaining, Elliot delivered the finishing blow. Receiving the ball just across midfield, Elliot outran a Lakota West defender and found herself one-on-one with the Firebirds goalkeeper. Elliot put the ball past the keeper for the insurance goal, sealing the 2-0 Springboro victory.
Goalkeeper Charlotte Fry and the Springboro defense did the rest, keeping Lakota West off the scoreboard and giving Fry the shutout.
The victory capped the regular season for the Lady Panthers, who finish 9-2-6. Springboro also enters the postseason having gone unbeaten since its last loss in August. With the regular season now behind them, the Panthers will turn their attention immediately to postseason play.
Springboro will open the tournament at home against fellow GWOC opponent Northmont on Monday, Oct. 26, 7:00pm at Wade Field.
