The hot evening temperatures didn't slow down the Springboro Lady Panthers on Tuesday night as they traveled to Fairfield and came away with a 4-1 victory.
Springboro got on the board early when Stella Woodrum delivered a corner kick just six minutes into the match. The ball found Baylee Cumbow at the back post, where she timed her jump perfectly and headed it into the net for a 1-0 Panthers lead.
Less than 10 minutes later, Springboro struck again. Sydney Jacobs sent a cross into the box, and Alyssa Wright finished the opportunity to extend the lead to 2-0.
With 14 minutes remaining in the first half, Alex Elliott played a pass from midfield to Macy Gill. Gill took a few dribbles before firing a shot toward the upper corner. The Fairfield goalkeeper got a hand on the ball but couldn't keep it out as Springboro increased its advantage to 3-0.
The Panthers added one more before halftime. With 9:44 left in the half, Lily Remy connected with Gill on a throw-in. Gill controlled the ball and buried another shot into the back of the net, giving Springboro a commanding 4-0 lead heading into the break.
Springboro continued to control possession throughout the second half, but Fairfield broke through about nine minutes in after winning a ball and scoring on a shot from outside the box to make it 4-1.
The Indians tightened up defensively the rest of the way and prevented any further scoring despite several Springboro chances.
The Lady Panthers next game will be at home against the Springfield Wildcats on September 2nd, 2026. Game time is 7:15pm.
